  does any other religion not celebrate birthdays?

  i was thinking about the newspaper article that said that jws stick to no blood transfusions because nobody else does it and so this marks them as different.

  but there are other religions that don't allow any medical treatment so i'm guessing that would include blood medicine.. then i started to think about other things eg christmas - plenty of other religions don't celebrate christmas.

  war - plenty of conscientious objectors.

  After Armstong's death the Worldwide Church of God moved closer to the mainstream and encourages independent thinking.

  even a report of this size can only give an overview of such a large topic.

  In the West environmentalism has reached the status of religion to many people. Gaia worshipers are university educated fanatical true believers that the planet Earth is more important than humanity. One woman made headlines here in the States by having herself sterilized as part of a voluntary human extinction project. Some of these people look at humanity as a virus that is harmful to the Earth and must be done away with.

  I think it is mistaken to say that scientology is based on science. L. Ron Hubbard created it from his experience as a science fiction writer. Scientology is to science as astrology is to astronomy.

  despite the fact that witnesses claim to be politically neutral, i've seen a lot of political opinion being spread around by the r-n-f. it's all been pretty much anti-bush sentiment.

  As a Witness I thought the whole idea of paradise Earth sounded to me like Soviet era collective farms and state owned industry. Since the rank and file would have to await orders from the Princes on where they would live, where they would work and what jobs they would be doing, I saw parallels to Communism. From the brothers and sisters according to their abilities, to the brothers and sisters according to their needs.

  While a Witness I considered myself a Socialist with Jesus bringing about Utopia instead of the working class bringing Utopia through revolution.

  The Worldwide Church of God founded by Herbert Armstrong did not celebrate birthdays or Christmas. Armstrong was ordained by the Church of God 7th Day which in turn came from Second Adventists and William Miller.

  They have changed a lot of their doctrine since Herbert's death. They now accept the Trinity. I am not sure if they brought back birthdays and Christmas.

  The events after Herbert Armstrong's death were a very close parallel to Charles Russell's death. The thought of the founder is ignored and forgotten.

  I do not think the time for armed struggle has come for the US. I do think that the federal government has strayed so far from the vision of the Founding Fathers that it is beyond redemptiom.

  That is why I am a member of the League of the South whose goal is secession and the creation of an independent Southern Republic. Like the Bloc Quebecois and the Scottish National party this is accomplished by the ballott box.

  Your situation is completely different from illegals. Your father is a citizen and your family came to the US with visas. How much money your family had or did not have means nothing. You crossed legally. That is the only thing that matters.

  You say that everyone has broken the law making everyone criminals. That is not true. There are many many people who live their entire lives without so much as a parking ticket. Citizens who break the law should be punished to the fullest extent depending on the crime. Lesser crimes are paid by fines, greater crimes are paid by going to prison and being an illegal alien is a crime that is paid deportation.
